About Me

Hi, I’m Elijah.

I’m a therapist living in Chicago. I became a therapist because of my own experiences in therapy and believe in the positive impact it can have. As a queer person with ADHD, I also know that therapy often does not have these identities in mind. Because of this, I strive to create a therapeutic space that is supportive of queerness, neurodiversity, and of all marginalized identities. While therapy alone can’t bring an end to oppression (rather it’s often been used to reinforce it), I believe that it can be a radical place of respite and healing from the harm caused by injustice.

I grew up in an evangelical Christian environment and went through a painful deconstruction process through college and early adulthood. I now hold spirituality with an open hand. I honor each person’s individual spiritual experiences and journeys, including no connection to spirituality at all. My own spiritual practices include reading tarot, being in nature, and finding as many opportunities to be awestruck as possible.

Some of the things I value most are curiosity, creativity, and community. I grew up doing music, theater, and art, and have somewhat recently been finally reconnecting with my creative Self on a consistent basis after years of being largely disconnected from it since graduating high school. Two of my personal favorite art forms are drag and puppetry, and I love it when my clients bring their own creative interests into therapy.

One of my favorite non-work-related topics to learn about is theoretical physics, which is why I chose to name my practice Storied Space Therapy and lean into space imagery in my website design. I love listening to others nerd out on their special interests and truly feel like infodumping is a neurodivergent love language.

“Two things fill the mind with ever new and increasing admiration and awe, the more often and steadily we reflect upon them: the starry heavens above me and the moral law within me.“

Immanuel Kant
